Wow, a lot of reading about Office 2007 but found some helpful information such as academic publishers not wanting submissions done in Office 2007. My husband who does submit from time to time will be interested in that.
In 19 I thought the Encyclopedia of Medicine helpful in looking at side affects of various medications, both nonperscription and perscription. Some of these are not mentioned in the print out you get from the phamacist. Global Road Warrior and Job Freeway also looked enticing.
I have used Askaway (20) to ask about whether it was still necessary to have a pap smear every two years when I have been with my husband for more than thirty now. The librarian, understandably, was cautious about giving me an answer. She finally told me it was best to ask my family doctor about that which I did. I can understand her hesitation in giving me this type of medical information.
I completed 2 and 3 of Playground early on so I now have completed all the compulsary sections.

Playground #17
My job in circulation doesn't give me the opportunity to set up meetings but the information was very thorough and would be useful if the need arrises. I have completed this section.

Playground #16
After reading the etiquette information related to emailing I realized I have made a few blunders, even more than a few perhaps, when emailing friends and family. The section about phishing scams was also informative and eyebrow raising. I have clicked on links within emails, so far without mishap, but will think twice before continuing this practice. I learned a lot within a half hour that will hopefully help me avoid making email blunders and falling into the traps the phishing scams are setting.

Doddling In The Playground
I am slowly, emphasize slowly making my way through Playground and am working on number 6. Besides holidays slowing me down I've had some trouble unravelling instructions. After a few thwarted attempts I managed to send a photo to my Flickr account and when it didn't look the way I wanted I sent another edited version. Because I have a Google account I set up a Google Reader account and started with adding one of my favourite sites, Bookcrossing.com. I've studied the three diffeent options for adding news feeds and favourite blogs. I found the third one with the tutorial the most helpful and easiest to understand. Playground sounds like fun but for me it's more like boot camp but each half hour I spend presents new unheard of possibilities so I look forward to this afternoon's session.
Gems of Vancouver
I stopped into the Marketplace Bistro on the corner of Smithe and Burrard a few days ago. The guy manning the till was singing about his girlfriend as he put my Corsican panini into the grill. A trio of women walked by outside and one of them tapped loudly on the glass and waved at him. When he aknowledged them her two companions smiled and waved. Each woman that ordered was addressed as either "my dear" (for the older ones I guess) or "precious" or "beautiful". Besides the fact that the paninis are delicious I am sure people go there for the show. And although it seems women get the lion's share of attention there's an equal mix of both sexes in the lunchtime crowd. As I sat near the window observing the grey shades outside I couldn't help but appreciate the bright ones inside.
